Fashion /ˈfaSHən/
A popular trend, in style of dress or manners of behaviour

Fashion has existed as long as humans have manufactured clothing to put on their bodies. The function and style of these garments have changed, leading to the modern day definition stated above. But what is fashion, today, in the year of 2014?

If I were to ask you what was a popular trend in the 1950's, you'd say poodle skirt. If i was to ask what was a popular trend in the 70's, you'd say flared pants. But if I were to ask you what a definitive trend or style that applies to our society today, would you be able to come up with a finite answer? no.

There is no universal trend that can define our society today. Fashion is no longer a popular trend, it is an individualistic expression of how one feels. If you feel like a fairy princess, then god dammit leave the house dressed as one! Fashion is no longer a way to define a society, it is a way for a person to define themselves to society, and create their own place in the world. These are more than just clothes, it's what we live our life in!

Who Am I? What possible way could I create my space in this world, a space that only I occupy.
A question I have asked myself for years, and have finally found it

...And I call it.

Paris Fashion Week

                                                   Paris, France - Autumn/Winter 14
feb 23 - mar 5

In a grand tradition, the global elite of the fashion world convened in France for Paris Fashion Week. International and Parisian designers such as Sonia Rkyiel, Céline and COMMES des GARÇONS were featured on the runway, displaying their autumn/winter 2014 lines. The runway can be a difficult place for the modern day woman to look for her personal style inspiration, however there are several forms of the everyday woman in which I observed during the week.

Description of Photo
Chloé a/w 13

This piece from Parisian fashion house Chloé is definitive of what I would like to call the feminine minimalist. The outfit combines a conservative cream based colour pallet with a loose fit, making it perfect for the feminine woman on the go. Minimalistic in the sense that no piece overpowers the other, the outfit comes together to help create a calm and stable mood.
Giambattista Valli a/w 13

Italian-born French designer Giambattista Valli displays what I refer to as the conservative flirt. While a plunging neckline and short length presents this piece in a flirtatious manner, the unstructured fit and dark colour leave room for mystery.
Dior a/w 13

This Dior look encompasses the female rebel who, dressed is a conservative black pantsuit, is not afraid to add a touch of colour or print to her everyday look. The added Bleu de France trench coat and striped glove is the perfect spin on this traditional look.

FRESH /freSH/
not previously known or used; new or different.

In essence this is the best place to start, fresh. I have never blogged, and god forbid never knew I would. But I am looking for the freshness in life, so eloquently defined above. This is a medium not previously used by me, the individual looking for something new and different in life. This, in short, is my reasoning for starting this blog.

My creative muse stems from a Disney Character, Cruella De Ville. Say what you want of her coats made from your family dog Charlie, her style was avant garde. I hope my blog is a learning experience, bringing my own personal sense of style to the world, while simultaneously learning more about myself along the way. Like it or not my style is here to stay, and this is just one way to show the world what I have to offer.
